Let’s Move Fulton Forward in 2017 and Beyond!

As Chairman of the Board of Commissioners in Fulton County, I speak at numerous events both nationally and internationally throughout the year, but nothing gets me more excited than the annual State of the County Address where I get to talk to YOU about all the great things we’ve accomplished over the past year in Fulton County.

“Fulton Forward” is the theme of the 2017 State of the County Address.

I will highlight a number of our 2016 efforts, our successes and what we have planned for 2017.

As the state’s largest county, we have so much to be proud of. For example, I’m especially excited about the passage of the Fulton County TSPLOST, a three-quarter of a penny tax on the dollar that could bring more than 650 million dollars for  transportation improvements over the next five years. It’s a small investment that will fuel a huge payoff. Many transportation projects are already underway!

We’re also tackling important health issues like HIV/AIDS. The county has made it a priority to establish innovative no cost PrEP clinics that will serve our most vulnerable populations.  PrEP is a one-pill-a-day regimen that is 97 percent effective in preventing high-risk persons from contracting HIV.

In the field of criminal justice reform, Fulton County is leading the way, working to get old arrest records cleared and giving many a new lease on life.

We are assisting our last unincorporated area, South Fulton, transition into a viable and thriving new city.  The success of the new city contributes to the success of Fulton County!

Hear all the details of our great initiatives at the State of the County. You won’t want to miss out on this event. If you haven’t registered, there’s still time.

A special thank you goes out to our host, the Council for Quality Growth, all of our sponsors for their support and especially our staff for their hard work in planning this important event.
